By the time I've finished whipping up a cookie recipe or cooking dinner, the sink is filled with so many dirty dishes. It's the one chore I dread doing after a couple of hours working in the kitchen. This one bowl chocolate cake recipe is perfect for those that want to get to eating their creation right away instead of washing dishes for too long. Everything is tossed into one bowl and baked right away. You'll be munching on this cake in no time!
Ingredients
1 1/4 (160g) cups all purpose flour
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
1/3 (30g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 (5g) teaspoon baking soda
1 (8g) teaspoon salt
1/3 (80ml) cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water (177ml), room temperature
1 teaspoon (5g) apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate baking bar
Confectioners' sugar (optional)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (176 C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Roughly chop the chocolate baking bar into chunks. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add in the vegetable oil, water, apple cider vinegar, and vanilla extract. Using a spatula, fold the batter until no lumps of dry ingredients remain.
Sprinkle the chocolate chunks in and fold until just incorporated.
Pour the batter into the baking pan. Bake for 28-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
Allow it to cool in the pan for 15 minutes and cut into squares. If you are looking for a little extra sweetness, dust some confectioners' sugar on top.
Enjoy, and satisfy your craving!
